The DGS-1008MP features eight 10/100/1000BASE-T ports that support the IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard. Each of the eight PoE ports can supply up to 30 W, with a total combined PoE budget of 125 W, allowing users to power up to eight IEEE 802.3at-compliant devices without requiring an additional power supply. This allows devices to be installed in locations without their own power outlet, saving on installation costs and reducing the time it takes to install new devices.

Support for Auto MDI/MDI-X on all ports eliminates the need for crossover cables when connecting to another switch or hub. Auto-Negotiation on each port senses the link speed of a network device (either 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps) and intelligently adjusts for optimal compatibility and performance. The DGS-1008MP is furthermore built around a fanless design. Green Technology

The DGS-1008MP supports IEEE 802.3az Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE), reducing power consumption of the switch when network utilization is low and minimizing operating costs during periods of inactivity.
